THE LEVEL OF ARTISTIC IMAGINATION AMONG ART EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STUDENTS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

This study aims to investigate the level of artistic imagination among students of the Department of Art Education at the College of Basic Education, and to determine its correlative relationship with their academic achievement. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher employed the descriptive-analytical approach, specifically adopting the correlational design. The research population consisted of art education students in colleges of basic education. The fourth-stage students were purposively selected as the study sample, totaling (65) male and female students (13 males and 52 females).
To accomplish the research objective, the researcher constructed an artistic imagination scale consisting of (29) items, encompassing three primary dimensions of artistic imagination: (Primary Imagination, Perceived Imagination, and Transformative Imagination). The face validity of the scale was verified by presenting it to a panel of experts in art education and art teaching methodologies, adopting an 80% agreement rate as the criterion for item acceptance. All items met this threshold, confirming the scale's face validity. Construct validity, discriminating power, and reliability were established by administering the scale to a pilot sample of (100) male and female students. Subsequently, the research tool was applied to the main study sample. The responses from the (65) completed questionnaires were scored, tabulated, and statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
